Oh, and another thing...

1) I've commented on this before, but in passing: why are all Jewish events for those 20-40 called 'young professionals' gatherings? Why 'professional'? Why 'young' seems self-explanatory.

2) Blogger Mobius from Jewschool remarked at last night's panel that he thinks right-wing Zionist Jews are to blame for the new wave of anti-Semitism. This is fair--in earlier eras, when Jews were largely on the left (think of Bund, Third Republic France) there was no anti-Semitism whatsoever. Obviously.

i was half-joking.

i think that the callousness of the jewish right, and its insensitivity towards the suffering of palestinians and arabs/muslims in general breeds greater hostility towards the jewish community and inflames tensions beyond "normal" levels.

Re: (1): Because otherwise the organizers would have to admit that all of those events are just excuses for us young un's to meet and mack and godwilling marry. If you throw a "professional" into the descriptors, though, the meet markets become *networking* opportunities. Brilliant.

(Hee, "networking" sounds so dirty now.)
