Do not recall a library book you may have already checked out.

You mean get it back from yourself? That is very unfair!

I mean get it back from myself. Hand it to Circulation and get it handed right back again. Luckily I caught myself before making the recall.

Not quite the same, but in Chicago on at least three separate occasions I had to return books to Powell's because I'd already bought them... from Powell's. Luckily they took them back and only kept the sales tax (not quite a restocking fee, but close). Another reason to get a research assistant to enter everything I own into Library Thing.

It's generally protocol in my neck of the wood to email the department before recalling the book to see if someone you know has it so you can just borrow it for a few weeks.
Couldn't you have just emailed yourself first?
