Rothian romantic comedy, in 2005?

Since we're going to regress to a time when women were either virgins or whores, when metaphorical milk was not given away for free, why not a new romantic comedy "dusting off and quietly updating some of the themes associated with Philip Roth and Woody Allen"? Prime (not to be confused with Proof) is a movie about a Jewish guy, an Uma Thurman playing (playing?) a "shiksa", and a Jewish mother who is also a therapist. This all sounds most original.

You seem to harbour a lot of resentment against shiksas.

Hardly. My point is that the whole notion (and plotline) is outdated.

It is still okay to harbor resentment against shiksas, though, isn't it?

Only the blonde ones.

Shiksa means "dirty," "unclean". It's offensive to use the word without quotes, which Phoebe does use.

Plotlines never get outdated. The big wheel of fashion just keeps on turning. And proud Mary keeps on burning.

See Albert Brooks and Larry David for evidence that that particular plotline never died.

I find it offensive that you're using word "offensive" without quotes.

And I find it unspeakably offensive that you're posting anonymously rather than taking the few moments necessary to invent a screen name for your contributions.

And finally, I've found through personal experience that Scandinavian shiksa's are preternaturally un-dirty and clean. So that's the statement of yours that I find uber-offensive.
