What GW did goes beyond "ish". They originally created a evilly clever plan to be "ish", but then quickly they abandoned that plan and just flat out lied for a long time...
Both ish-es were intended as understatements. The trouble with brevity is, intent may not come through.

I know nothing else about it, other than that someone I really respect is a professor there. But that story is plenty unsettling.
