The comments left on ancient blog posts here tend to be on the furious end of the spectrum. What inspires someone to leave a comment on a post from ages ago? Are they hoping someone will use the same search terms they did and join the snail's-pace 'conversation'? Regardless, I bring this up because today was the best one yet: a trollish commenter accuses me of - drumroll please - having never been to New York.

I have occasionally left non-furious remarks on old blog posts (not here) simply because I didn't notice the dates...
I'm sure this happens. And some of the comments are normal, even helpful. But the bulk seem to be cases of, rage overpowered whichever urge to see whether the thing being commented on is even somewhat recent.
Hello, I am a time traveller from the year 2030. You are stupid and wrong about everything and even in the year 2030 you still haven't ever been to New York.
