Y bother?

The 92nd Street Y offers a wide range of courses, from dance to music to swimming, but the ones with the most amusing names and descriptions fall within the "Changing your life" category. For example, Maximizing Your Makeup involves the following :

"Learn to make the most of five basic products, (powder/foundation, blush, mascara, eyeshadow and lipstick), that already reside in most personal makeup kits. No matter what your age, get advice on basic beauty makeup application for your daily routine, and learn exclusive time-saving, multi-tasking techniques."

The esteemed professor's bio: "John Ottavino has been a professional makeup artist, hair stylist, media spokesperson and beauty education consultant for 20 years. His clients include major cosmetics companies and celebrities and models in the entertainment industry."

It would be fun, though, to come up with pairs of courses which could be offered as two-for-one deals. "Improving Your Memory" ought to be offered alongside "If I am Not for Myself, Who Is?" And "Take Charge of Your Anger" should be paired with "Deciding to Have a Baby--or Not."
