With all the anti-plastic-bag backlash, with Whole Foods and others giving the concerned consumer what he (I feel this merits an 'or she') wants, I want to know the following: Without plastic bags from groceries, how does one take out the trash?
There's no weekly cycle, nor a perfect trash-to-bag correspondence. I just want to know if the people buying reusable bags are also buying plastic trash bags. If this is the case, I don't see why stores' decision to stop carrying plastic bags is anything but a show of environmental concern. Plastic is plastic, whether it says "Key Food" on it or not.
I use grocery store bags for my trash exclusively. Since they're smaller, they go down the chute easily AND I never have to worry about the trash smelling since I have to take it out frequently, duh.
If all your trash can fit into a plastic grocery bag each week, I think you need not worry about your negative impact on the environment.
