Yes, people, it's true. There are now nine nuclear powers in the world.
I, for one, have not given up hope in the Bush administration's foreign policy. I think that if we can get the North Koreans to call them "nucular" weapons, as the President does, he'll have scored an immense victory for the free world.
No big revelation really.
ReplyDeleteWhat aspect of the Bush team's foreign policy are you refering to? Are you refering to the effort to start to Westernize North Korea?
um, that it comes as no surprise--not even to me--makes it in no way any less of a failure on this administration's part.
ReplyDeleteI said nothing of the administration's efforts to "westernize" NK, which I don't even believe is their policy.
this administration stated, point blank, that it was its goal to prevent North Korea from developing nuclear weapons. it has FAILED.
we are NOT safer than we were on Sept. 12th. and we are CERTAINLY not safer than we were the day before we invaded Iraq. and that's a problem.
Ah, I guess I read into your reference to getting the Koreans to call them "nucular" as a euphemism for Westernizing them. I didn't realize your post was totally sarcastic. But think about it. If you did manage to get a good portion of North Korea to start pronouncing nuclear as "nucular," it would follow as almost a necessary consequence that they would have to become less threatening also as a result.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, there are now only eight "declared" nuclear powers in the world. Israel remains extremely silent on what they may or may not have.
ReplyDeleteare people who pronounce "nucular" less threatening? hmm, I think not. in fact, I view the President as the single greatest threat to my well being. well, that and whatever's causing every computer I touch to die immediately.
ReplyDeleteas for the question about declared/undeclared, I'll say simply that whether or not Israel is a declared nuclear power, everyone knows they have nukes, and that there is indeed a reason why the word "declared" did not appear in my post.
I may be a fashionista, people, but I do have a degree in International Studies... :)
Learning new words like "nucluar" is hard work. Hard work....hard work.....
