I mean, I don't really buy Kerry as a neo-con. Where's the support for the primacy of America in the world? Where's the unimpeded support for promotion of democracy in the Middle East? Where's the unending support for Israel?
I'm not saying Bush has all these things (I don't really think he's a true neo-con either), but I buy him far quicker than I would Kerry. Maybe, instead, this is a plot by Safire to try and get Kerry's base to ditch him. Isn't neo-con a dirty word among the ultra-left? Wouldn't the idea that they might be voting for one push them to, say, Nader?
I don't know. I'm not really buying it.
